2024 – [Long Beach, CA] – PQ Gamez, a rising name in innovative tabletop game design/development, announced the successful acquisition of the intellectual property and gameplay assets for the card game, Martial Arts: The Card Game, from its former publisher. The move signals the milestone remastering of the title under the new name, The Martial Way.

The acquisition is a personal victory for PQ Gamez founder and CEO, Chris Johnson, whose vision for the game originated years ago at the annual BGG Con.

“I first picked up the original card game years ago, and I was immediately captivated,” said Johnson. “It offered one of the most authentic and immersive experiences of real martial arts strategy I had ever seen in a tabletop game. But, truthfully, it always felt like it was missing something. The foundational concept was amazing, but the execution wasn't quite balanced, and it lacked that final layer of competitive polish.”

Johnson’s passion for realizing the game’s true potential became a driving force behind the creation of PQ Gamez. Upon establishing the company, Johnson and his team immediately searched for the original publisher, acquired the full license, and initiated a total overhaul of the gameplay system.

“For the past year, we haven't just tweaked the rules; we’ve rebuilt every single deck and every card from the ground up,” Johnson explained. “We applied decades of game development and testing expertise to ensure that every style—from the fluid redirection of Tai Chi to the aggressive threat of Wrestling—is competitively viable. We are confident that The Martial Way is finally the game I dreamed of playing all those years ago.”

The relaunched title, The Martial Way, promises players unparalleled strategic depth, flawless competitive balance, and an authentic representation of each distinct martial arts style it proudly represents.

About PQ Gamez PQ Gamez is dedicated to developing high-quality, expertly balanced competitive tabletop experiences. Founded on a passion for deep strategy and authentic thematic integration, the company is committed to delivering games that reward player skill and critical thinking.

This news about PQ Gamez acquiring the martial arts card game IP immediately brought back memories of my own brief foray into competitive card games back in the day. I remember spending hours with friends, dissecting card synergies and trying to perfect my deck-building strategy for a fantasy-themed game. The sheer joy of pulling off a complex combo felt like unlocking a secret level of strategy https://adstandards.com.au/issues/wagering-advertising It’s fascinating to think about the amount of work that must go into rebuilding and refining an IP, especially something as niche as a martial arts card game. I’m genuinely curious to see how ‘The Martial Way’ turns out. Will it capture that same strategic depth and rewarding feeling of mastery? It’s always…
